Hermanos,
Twenty-nine years ago, a group of fifteen college men, had a vision to create a fraternal organization that was not only different from those standard organizations, which we are accustomed to, but one that was progressive and in tune with the philosophies and influences previously initiated by the unsung heroes of 60's and 70's. These fifteen men felt it was very important to stand up and further continue the fight to enlighten our fellow man to the truths of African and Latino people. Malik Sigma Psi Fraternity was born on May 13, 1977 at C.W. Post University and later on in 2002, it grew completing it's own rites of passage, to what is now named Malik Fraternity Incorporated.
It is with great pride and admiration of this occurrence, we Maliks continue to maintain focus on the essence of the five principles instilled by our founders - Manhood, Achievement, Integrity and Knowledge, by promoting academic excellence, social responsibility, integrity, brotherly love and reclamation of the stolen legacy of the African contribution to the World civilization.
Today we honor these men and ask that each and every single one of our members take a moment to reflect reason each one of us pledged and recall the road which was paved back in 1977. These men were constantly ridiculed by their peers with such statements - 'it couldn't be done' and 'you guys won't survive'. Well, we did do it and we are definitely still here!
Therefore, join me in celebration on this most joyous day of our history and honor each of them by continuing the fight in spreading our concept, mission statement and brotherhood, locally and internationally. The National Office of MALIK Fraternity Incorporated and its members, extend a heartfelt salute, to each and every founder.
